"The labor movement means just this: It is the last noble protest of the American people
against the power of incorporated wealth."

NOTICE

ATTENTION: IBEW BROTHERS AND SISTERS

Due to recent notification that CPS plans to enforce all safety rules and
administer discipline for all safety infractions, we are recommending that
our members observe all safety guidelines outlined in their departments prescribed
safety manual.  The safety procedures are to be followed every day, under all
circumstances to the letter, regardless of the situation.  We are also asking if you
observe a co-worker working unsafely, remind him/her of the possible
repercussions.  Sometimes we tend to put the priority on getting the job done fast,
the customers service restored quickly, getting the unit online in a hurry, etc....to
save on cost, as opposed to following all safety guidelines.  As of now this will no
longer be acceptable.  The priority should be getting the job done
SAFELY not QUICKLY.

THE LIFE OR JOB YOU SAVE COULD BE YOUR OWN!!!!

"A" Card Membership Is Available

"A" Card Membership is available to the entire Membership. All Memberships are currently "BA". The
added benefits of becoming an "A" Card Member would allow an individual to participate in the
Internationals pension plan and provide an accidental death or death by natural causes benefit to
a next-of-kin.

For "A" Card membership, a Member would be required to increase their dues an additional
$18 per month. On average at $19 per month paying in to the pension plan for 20 years, once retired and
age 62 or 65 it would take approximately 3 years of monthly pension payments to get back the 20 years worth
of investments in the plan. After that, the money you receive monthly will be strictly the Internationals.

The other benefit of "A" Card is the Death Benefit. Upon the death of a non-retired "A" Card member
with at least 6 months of continuous membership in good standing, the beneficiary to receive the death
benefits payable according to the IBEW Constitution shall be paid the sum of $6,250.00
if the "A" Member died from natural causes, or the sum of $12,500.00 if the "A" Member died from
accidental means.

Taking care of each other and our families is what Unions are all about. If you are interested in
this benefit please contact the Union Hall at your earliest convenience. You will be required to fill out
another payroll deduction card adding the $18 amount to your dues, and the International requires that
another W-9 form be filled out.

WHAT HAVE UNIONS EVER DONE FOR ME?

A lot of workers only hear one side of the Union story and in most instances it’s the story of the employer
who tells you that you don’t need a Union. Have you ever wondered what a Union really is? A Union  is
simply when two or more people come together for a common cause and with the IBEW that common cause
is a better standard of living. Unions represent all workers, not just those that are members.  A good example
is social security. Every time a retired person draws a social security check they should have a warm feeling
in their hearts for organized labor. It was organized labor that lobbied for the legislation that created social
security, workman's comp, minimum wage, state & federal unemployment benefits and the Fair Labor
Standards Act that provides for all workers to receive overtime after forty hours of work in a week. Because of
Unions, you receive all of the above. Join with the hundreds of thousands who stand up for all workers in
America.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
