The 2015 Labor Day Breakfast was held on Saturday, August 29th at the San Antonio Fire Fighters Association Hall. Local 500 is proud to honor our member, Leticia Ortiz. She is a leader for her union at work and also a leader in our Community. Leticia volunteers for many worthy causes such as the Ronald McDonald House and the Battered Women's Shelter. These are only two of the numerous projects that Leticia gives valuable volunteer time to help working families. Thank you for all that you do, Leticia and CONTRAGULATIONS!!! |
The 2014 Labor Day Breakfast was held at Magnolia Gardens. Last year Local 500 honored Rodney Jones. He has been a proud member since April, 1998. He is a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and is a lead in helping organize the feeding of the homeless under the bridge near the Bexar County Jail. He has helped in numerous projects within the community. CONGRATULATIONS RODNEY!!!!! |
On August 27th, 2016 members, family members and friends of IBEW Local 500 donated their time and effort to work on a landscape project for Habitat for Humanity. The group was scheduled to volunteer from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. but finished the project by 9:30 a.m. due to their hard work and time management. THANK YOU for making Local 500 Shine and helping your fellow citizens!!! |
2016 Labor Day Breakfast Honoree is Brother Elroy Helmke. He is a proud member of IBEW Local 500 and is a great example of doing for others. He has volunteered on numerous projects to include working with the San Antonio Youth Literacy, Salvation Army Angel Tree, MLK Commission, Alamo FIRST, Ronald McDonald House, Cesar Chavez March for Justice, Boysville, Core4 STEMP Expo, Children’s Shelter, SA Works! (Chamber of Commerce), FIRST Alamo Region, Stuff the Bus, and was part of a group that painted the room and fixed up the park for Haven for Hope when it first opened. Elroy a big "THANK YOU" for all that you do for your community..CONGRATULATIONS!!!! |

St. PJ's 2nd Annual Fun Day in the Park Event was held April 7th at Mission Concepcion Park. The kids enjoyed a day filled with fun activities such as Kickball, Volleyball, Face Painting, Petting Zoo, Bounce House and many more activities. Thank you to all the Volunteers that represented IBEW Local 500 in this event where the focus was creating a lifetime memory to the children of St. PJ's. Special THANKS to Member Alfonso Estrada and other members from the Gas Department of CPS Energy for their giving heart. |
